Love Is a Heavy Weight
This last year has been a deep, hard, fast, learning curve of how life and love can change you completely.
From New York to Chicago I have walked myself into a new reality.
It has brought me back to my roots and my deep devotion to the internal arts of healing and the practice of cultivating self-awareness.
When I was first introduced to the South Indian teachings of Sri Vidya (Hindu Tantric Goddess Teachings) my heart felt right at home.
I especially fell in love with the fierce aspects of the goddess that represented the embodiment of radical self-love and fierce compassion.
Without really knowing it, earlier in life, I put my empowered feminine attributes to the side. I did not realize until my early twenties the toll this took on me until my body broke down with bouts of insomnia and debilitating anxiety.
The archetypal feminine was the practice I needed to learn first. I needed to learn how to be in my body. To learn how to come back home to myself.
Remembering who I am as a woman embodied and fully owning the choices I make in my life has been the primary undercurrent of my own personal spiritual journey.
Reclaiming aspects of myself through what I had forgotten led to a return to principles of the sacred that guide my life and work today.
What has been interesting this year is noticing the clarity that comes with integrating the wisdom of the feminine with a healthy masculine orientation.
Having the emotional support, where before it was lacking, has strengthened the inner understanding of my own steady and fierce masculine.
As the story books say. The wild ecstatic feminine can dance her dance because she feels the unwavering presence of her beloved masculine consort.
These two aspects of the self, yin and yang, Shiva and Shakti, work together to bring about the harmony that synthesizes the power to change your life.
There is nothing like the feeling when your inner feminine - the power to create - is supported by your inner masculine - the power to stay with yourself through complexity and change.
One of my beloved teachers would always remind us that: “You know your inner practice is working well for you when you can see the positive results of it in your life."
When the technology of practice is working for you you will feel it.
When the technology of practice is outdated for you, you will notice.
You will know because what you are practicing may not be creating the results you want to see in your life.
The practice that worked well even a year ago may not be able to hold you in your life today simply because things are different now and a new way of being is emerging for you.
Can you relate?
When what you’ve tried before isn’t resulting in the change you seek to create a whole new way of being is asking you to let go of the old ways.
Not all is meant to come with you in this next phase of the journey.
Are you at a crossroads wondering what is the next step in my life and work? Are you saying to yourself, I’ve tried everything, and nothing is working…?
Working with the fierce feminine frequency may just be the thing for you to get things moving again in the right direction for you.
For all that is unfolding for you,
Andrea
