My Turning Point
About five years ago, I found myself at an urgent crossroads. I was no longer satisfied in my life and business.
Even though I was technically doing what I loved and working with clients I deeply appreciated, I realized a fundamental truth inside of me that was terrifying:
What I wanted for myself in life had changed.
The very things that gave my life meaning and purpose, that formed the base of my whole identity, were shifting.⠀
I was running my own business doing work I loved, and yet...I felt an insistent belief that I wasn't allowed to enjoy my life and that if I was going to be lucky enough to do what I loved for a living, I was going have to suffer for it. I had to prove that I was worthy of a life I loved. I had to earn the right of others' approval so that I could feel free in my own life. ⠀
The truth was I was burnt out, completely overextended and out of touch with my own needs. I couldn't afford to lose clients or take time off. My weeks were so full that I had no time for myself, my income was just barely covering bills, and I felt immense pressure to meet the needs of everyone around me.⠀
At this moment, I realized how scared I really was.
What if I really went for what I wanted?
Would I lose everything I had worked so hard to achieve?
What was this new thing I was feeling?
And how was I going to create it? ⠀
Until I chose a more self-honoring path...nothing was going to change.
To grow myself and my business in a sustainable way, I had to:
#1: Get vulnerable, honor my own needs, and open myself up to receiving support.
#2: Take a stand for what I wanted, listen for my own guidance, and courageously bring my vision to the forefront of my business.
#3: Create authentic, healthy boundaries around my money, time, and energy, so that I could support the individual and collective healing I knew was possible for others. I had to place my attention ONLY on the things that were aligned with my new vision.
As 2021 began, I found myself at a similar crossroads...but because I've been here before, I knew exactly what to do:
I knew that I needed to call in more support in my business and delegate so that I can focus more on creating new programs and writing. My book isn't going to write itself...
I knew I wanted to find ways to help more people than the time constraints of one-on-one coaching allow me.
I knew I'd outgrown my business branding and website from 10 years ago and wanted visitors to receive a clearer vision of what I offer and how I might support them.
So I hired the help I needed and invested the last two months into rebranding my business and building a beautiful new online home. I'm developing a new 4-week program (coming this fall!) to serve as an accessible entry point into my work and a foundation piece to prepare clients for my higher level coaching programs. I'm working with a business manager to take tasks off of my plate for good to free up not only my time but my attention to focus solely on creation and coaching.
This whole process of stepping into this new vision and creating more of what I want hasn't been effortless. There's an investment of money and time, the vulnerability of questioning everything I think I know about myself and my business, the surrender of releasing old things that no longer serve me (including my old business name!), and the humility to admit that I can't do it all myself.
But as I step through to the other side, I feel so much more ease, freedom, and new inspiration and motivation to serve in bigger, bolder ways. This new website I share with you is just a jumping off point for the new programs and resources to come. I created it with you in mind through every step of the process.
