Seeing Beyond What Is Shown
Sometimes people do not really know or fully understand what I do as a healer or coach.
I’ve spent the majority of my life making sure that I do know where I stand in all of that uncertainty.
And when necessary, to be able to articulate, and sometimes even translate, the value and process of healing work.
It isn’t always straightforward, nor is it easy to explain.
But there is a language to it.
An innate process that unfolds when we show up for it and welcome it in. It is a palpable, undeniable feeling of shifting and changing behind what we do as artists and healers.
It’s not a linear path.
It is often a long winding road of foibles, detours, setbacks, and reroutes all to make sure you’re still paying attention. Still keeping one ear on the ground and one open to the sky.
The world may try to present you with a certain picture of success and happiness, or even adversity and defeat. Yet, life is a continuous set of moments in motion that has many different angles and varying perspectives at once.
Part of our work here, as creators, educators, facilitators, and guides, is helping to open greater perspective. And to do this we need to continually sharpen our own capacity for self-awareness and the ability to perceive without agenda.
We need to be able to see things beyond what is shown.
For ourselves.
For our work.
For our world.
I believe there is always more than meets the eye in any given situation. To me this is where things get interesting. Where we begin to see what is hidden. Where we begin to hear what is not being said.
Some may call this the realm of intuition and mystery.
Mystics may call this the realm of the Divine.
A psychological perspective may offer you routes to explore the unconscious of the psyche.
One way to remember this inexplicable realm is that it is already a part of you. It is a part of the unknown/unseen that calls to you. A part of you deeply connected to life that invites you to look beyond the obvious contours of being here.
Getting really good at seeing beyond what is being shown is our work here today. As healers, as humans.
To see through false narratives. To hear beyond what is being said. To see through grandiosity and get really good at discerning what is real, tangible, practical, and, yes, spiritual. To see how our material world is shaped by the way we see things. To see the connections between the material and immaterial.
To feel what is deeper, palpable, and more true.
To live from more curiosity and to have the audacity to think differently.
To reach for better.
Living from truth requires discernment.
It requires courage and a great deal of patience.
Complaining.
Blaming.
Bypassing.
Avoiding.
Attacking.
Checking out.
None of these help us.
They only cause more suffering, enabling, and separation.
Even when what is being presented to you is painful…
Even when what is happening is something you downright disagree with or even hate…
Even when you have lost and grieved so much…
Can you stay connected with yourself and sharpen your view?
Our work here is to help open perception.
To sense a much bigger, broader experiential field of knowledge and wisdom. To tend to it, and by all means, preserve it.
This is an inside job.
To see beyond the obvious and align with a deeper form of truth that is guiding you.
Life is not always about getting what you want. It’s about tending to what is needed, way deep down inside you. It’s an invitation to contribute from that level of depth. It’s an invitation that reveals your purpose to engage.
Love leads the way with all of her opposites in tow asking us to pay attention. To retrieve wisdom from shadows cast.
Shadows are, after all, what enable us to see where the light needs to go.
Life is your invitation to live gracefully, skillfully, and generously.
It is an offering to change things.
Yours for the journey,
Andrea
